HDD Observer is not only a high technologic product - it is one of the most intelligent soft for hard drives monitoring. And this is because it has some unique technologies implemented by us especially for this program. One of them is SmartBehavior - a unique behavior technology implemented in monitoring tools.

For example, if HDD temperature is near its critical value then HDD Observer begins to check it more frequently to exactly detect the time when the temperature will reach it's critical value. Evident - if critical value is reached, then HDD Observer will check HDDs with a lower frequency to release any system resources.
Another interesting feature is 'System Fragmentation Monitoring':
HDD Observer begins fragmentation check only when computer is idle, and all system resources are free.
In this case HDD Observer will check for fragmentation until will finish or the user will need any system resources. After check it informs the user about fragmentation level and can even defragment HD using its build-in defragmentation tools.

Rather than doing a clean install, you can (I believe) do an in place upgrade to get the same result. During install, if you have already configured the SP1 media center, if gives you the option to install anyway with the risk of lost settings and undetectable TV tuners so try it at your own risk.

Note: This is the x86 version only.
Update: The build string for this is "6.1.1000.18273" which is the RTM build according to support.microsoft.com
Update 2: I installed the TV pack without doing anything to my (decidedly not clean) vista install without any problems, all I had to do was run through the setup for my (usb) TV Tuner again (though I did unplug it before running the setup)". (c)

Known Issues:
Vegas Movie Studio 9 requires QuickTime 7.1.6 or later. As a general rule, you are encouraged to use the most current version of QuickTime.
24-bit Windows Media Audio files will always be read as 16-bit files in Windows 2000 (multichannel files are read as 16-bit stereo). This is a limitation of the operating system. You can render 24-bit WMA files, but if you want to read these files as 24-bit audio, copy them to a Windows XP machine.
If you are printing a rendered file to HDV tape, the file must precisely conform to the target HDV device and file type requirements, or the print-to-tape operation will fail. Rendering using the provided HDV MPEG-2 render templates - unmodified in any way - is required to successfully print to HDV tape.
The Sony Handycam USB driver that is included with DVD-based camcorders can prevent Vegas Movie Studio from recognizing a USB-connected camera. If you use the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel to uninstall the "Sony DVD Handycam USB driver" component, Vegas Movie Studio will be able connect to the camera and import video using Import > DVD Camcorder Disc.
VR mode requires Windows XP SP2 or greater.
Vegas Movie Studio fails to open the audio streams of MPEG-2 files that use stereo AC-3 encoding. Please conact Customer Support for a workaround.
